The Ratings

Our simple & honest checklist covers a restaurant’s key ingredients:
Ambiance, Service, and Food.

AMBIANCE

9/10

While our District isn’t that big, traffic can make distances feel much larger than they actually are. Therefore, getting a restaurant reservation on your end of town can sometimes be tricky. Nonetheless, Rasika has you covered with two equally delicious venues serving up the same upscale modern Indian cuisine in both a West End and a Penn Quarter location.

If you’re looking for the older, more mature, and established venue, check out the Penn Quarter location. If, on the other hand, you’re looking for the younger, funkier, and perhaps more vibrant alternative, do go for the West End locale.

While both venues can be frequented by business casual diners during the day (think: refined business lunch meeting), the evenings tend to get fancier, especially if some are looking to be seated in the West End’s Library Room or the private/semi-private accommodations in Penn Quarter, with dĂ©cor that gives off an upper-class Indian flair.

SERVICE

8/10

Spot on, but sometimes with a longer than desired wait. Rasika employs quality staff that ensure you have a great dining experience. From recommendations across the menu and friendly attitudes, Rasika takes care of its customers. However, sometimes, getting the bill takes a hot second. If you’re in any rush whatsoever, we recommend you let your waiter know early.

Palak Chaat

FOOD

Palak Chaat! Palak Chaat! Palak Chaat!

Okay, okay, okay, we’ll try it for goodness’ sake.

Everyone raves about Rasika’s crispy baby spinach, sweet yogurt, tamarind, and date chutney salad.

Verdict?

Palak Chaat! Palak Chaat! Palak Chaat!

We’re a fan.

Rasika offers quite the fantastic menu with a broad array of selections and a flavor profile that takes traditional Indian cuisine, not one, but many steps up.

From comforting bites of creamy Chicken Tikka Masala, to effortless buttery cuts into the Chef’s signature Black Cod, the meals are something to remember and return for.

We recommend you do accompany your meal with Naan — and if you want to try a unique naan with a light kick, try the Truffle Naan.

Palak Chaat! Palak Chaat! Palak Chaat!

Alrighty. You get it.

If you’re looking for a filling starter (and honestly could be a light meal), consider the Kolkata Lamb Roll served with a tasty mint chutney.

For mains, the Lamb Roganjosh with Kashmiri chili is a dish you’ll keep digging your spoon into for another bite.

Overall, Rasika definitely is must try restaurant and tops the charts for Indian cuisine in the District.
