Do you wake up in the morning and think ‘ahhh, today I’d like to experience the fresh smell of bread, the sweet sound of birds chirping, and the pleasant atmosphere of friendly locals chit-chatting?’ Well, if that’s you, then Bread Furst… thing in the morning… is the cute bakery you shouldn’t waist a minute to visit.

Tucked away in the residential upper-side Forrest Hills neighborhood, Bread Furst is a gemstone of a bakery that we wish we could keep as our little secret.

Do come for peace, serenity, and simplicity. And, yes, to try the breads crafted by a James Beard winning Outstanding Baker of the United States.

Bread Furst is a busy spot. Yet, even long lines go by so quickly. A testament to the diligence and hard working nature of the Bread Furst staff. After all, they do need to supply many, many, many Washingtonians like ourselves with their stock of breads. On the flip side, however, this incredibly fast service means you won’t get any special treatment or be greeted with any pleasantries. Once in line, be prepared to order, pay, and move out of the way!

Opening its doors at 8am everyday, the bakery is bustling with locals coming to snag breads, pastries, cakes, or pies.

One can even purchase delicious sandwiches prepared with the daily selection of bread and complement it with a Cafe au Lait or a Chai Latte.

If that isn’t enough, the bakery has plenty of goodies for you to add to your purchase, from spiced olive oils, to mini Nutella jars. Delightful and charming.

When it comes to your sandwich mealtime selection, your choices will be revealed to you upon your arrival.

Don’t fret though. You won’t be disappointed. Whether you try the scrumptious Turkey, the flavorful Smoked Salmon, or the juicy Chicken Torta, you’ll be content.
